Taken Prisoner

You start to push yourself to your feet, but are immediately shoved back to the ground as Kazaki places his foot on your back and pushes down hard, pinning you to the ground. You try to reach around to shove him off, but he has placed his foot in a position you cannot reach. He presses down harder and you grit your teeth against the pain of being shoved into the ground. Making sure to keep his foot pressing on your back, he crouches over you and catches your wrists in his armored hands.

"Bind her," he grunts, and another knight steps forward with a length of rope. Kazaki maneuvers your arms around to press your hands against your back. The second knight quickly and tightly binds your wrists together behind your back, making sure to leave absolutely no slack. Once done, Kazaki releases your arms. He grunts, and the other knight produces another length of rope and binds your ankles together just as he bound your arms - tightly, with no slack and no room to struggle.

Kazaki grips the back of your dress collar and removes his foot from your back as he rises to a standing position, hauling you to your feet. You try to struggle, but the bonds hold your limbs tightly in place as Kazaki holds you up. Hearing the growl rising in your throat, Kazaki nods to the other knight who ties a cloth over your mouth as a gag. Now completely helpless, you are forced to settle for fixing Kazaki with your fiercest glare. A glare that says I am going to rip you to pieces if you ever make the mistake of loosening my bonds by even a millimeter. Kazaki just chuckles and climbs back onto his horse. Holding the reins in his right hand and gripping you around the waist with his left, he turns the horse around, allowing you to catch a glimpse of the wizard, who has been shackled and held by another knight. Kazaki pushes the horse forward, carrying you (presumably) back to the castle.

A few hours later, the castle looms before you once again. It is clear that Kazaki and his knights are making no efforts to treat their prisoners carefully as he drags you and the wizard back into the Main Hall, where Prince Julius still waits. The prince smirks when he sees you bound and captive. "We got the girl," Kazaki grunts, thrusting you forward to your knees. "And the traitorous wizard." You glare at Julius and curse him through the gag.

"Remove the gag," the prince orders, and Kazaki violently rips off the cloth around your mouth.

You cough and glare at the prince. "You bastard! What the hell do you want?!"

The prince smirks. "If you want to know, I shall tell you. When you arrived I believed you were just like any other. Your story surprised me, but there were many prophecies. The oracle's 'maid who is not a maid' riddle, the story of the hero child, various old tales of a warrior maiden who fought evil. Which is true, and which is a fabrication? Where is the overlap? The wizard's test would answer these questions. When the wizard performed the test I sensed your change. I knew instantly you were a danger. Everything snapped into place. The maid in the oracle's riddle, the warrior maiden mentioned in the old tales, the tale of the hero child. All are but corruptions, variations of the one warrior maiden, decreed by Fate to destroy the Dark One. You are her. The moment I set eyes on your changed form I knew that you were her. You always have been, right from birth. Even as a male in your other world, you always were. When the time was right, the Hand of Fate brought you here and changed you to a female form. The wizard's test brought forth who you were always meant to be. The warrior maiden. Decreed by Fate, you are the only one who can slay the Dark One. A defeat to anyone else could only be a temporary setback. But that can't happen, now. The Dark One has yet to arrive and I have the legendry warrior maiden here, captive and helpless. Imagine how much he will reward me when he sees that I have permanently removed you from the equation!"

You are too stunned to respond. You just stare wide-eyed at the prince. The wizard, too, seems shocked and afraid. The prince just grins evilly at you. "I'm not going to kill you just yet," he says softly. "I expect my Master will want to do that himself. Guards!" Two knights step forward, each one grabbing one of your still-bound arms. "Take her to the dungeon and lock her up. Make sure it's secure, I don't want her getting out." One of the knights strikes you in the head, causing you to black out.

You awaken in a dark, uncomfortable place, seated against a stone wall. You groan and look around. You're in a dank, dark cell. Your arms and legs are no longer bound by the rope, but your wrists are in thick iron cuffs, which are chained to the wall you're leaning against. The chains aren't short enough to restrict movement of your arms, but are too short to allow you any mobility. Your legs are free, though, and you pull them in close to yourself. Your head hangs. The prince's words echo in your head. "The moment I set eyes on your changed form I knew that you were her. You always have been, right from birth." ... "The wizard's test brought forth who you were always meant to be." You feel yourself shaking. Is that true? No, it couldn't be...You couldn't...

Your thoughts are interrupted by a smooth, slightly mocking voice: "Well, what have we here?"
