Your salary after taxes ain't worth it

You run out and look around for the donkey you rode up on, however it is nowhere to be seen. Instead you just start running down the path away from the castle.

The rain intensifies, and it continues to darken. After several minutes you hear something behind you. Risking a glance, for a moment you see some figure in dark red... flowing towards you. Suddenly one of your feet slips on a rock and you fall off of a rise you didn't even notice was in front of you. Your eyes break contact from the figure only to see a log rushing up to impact your head.

Darkness.... dreams... movement... And time passes.

Eventually you open your eyes to see a stone ceiling above your head. You are in a large four canopy bed in a room made of stone walls. You slowly remember what happened and you realize you're back in the castle.

"You're awake," you hear from across the room. Looking over you see Jennifer. As your eyes focus you realize she is looking a little ill. Her skin is pale, and she seems to be staring at you very blankly.

"What... what happened?" you ask.

"You have been unconscious for almost a week. The Baroness wishes to speak to you, and to determine if it is safe to release you back to the world." Sitting up, she get a better look at her. Her dress has changed. She is no longer in her normal attire. She's instead wearing a layered dress which looks like it belongs in a tale about nobility from 700 years ago.

"Jennifer, what are you doing?"

"I...," she swallows. But even then she still hasn't blinked once. "She said my sitting here would be good training, to make sure I don't... slip." There is something about the way she is staring at you. It almost looks predatory.

"I think I'll be going." You begin to move, but then suddenly Jennifer crosses the room and pushes you back down onto the bed. You almost couldn't see the blur of her movement.

"You'll stay," she says. Then, uncomfortably, she smiles. Only then you start to realize who cold her hand on your chest feels. "Actually," she says, "if I only take a little, that shows I'm very much in control." She opens her mouth wider and you see two long fangs extend from her teeth.
