Mental Break Down

As you are crushed in the impact, your entire world blacks out, senses silenced in darkness as inexplicable pain races through you body. You feel as if you are outside of yourself, floating in a sea of darkness, and feel yourself sinking deeper into the cold of unconsciousness. You should have seen something like this coming. You’re no warrior, you a picture taking paper pusher. Here in your mind, you are still a man. You may have a fancy body, you may have sharp claws and teeth, you may have speed and agility, but in the end, you’re doing little more than throwing punches and hoping you luck out. You mind is still that of a weak and frail human being. And now it's over, you've lost, you’re dying...

Something in you lurches. In your darkness, you think you see a pencil line of red pulse through the emptiness. Another lurch shakes you, followed by a pulse, then a pound, building steadily, until it is a great pounding. You recognize it as your heartbeat, a wild sound growing in it as you find yourself surrounded by veins of red light. You realize, this is it, you either give up and die now, or you need to let go. You can feel it now, it is easy to forget, centuries of living in a civilized world, man easily forgets that it is an animal, but those forgotten instincts, no matter how suppressed are still there. Cracks form on your mental image of yourself, racing along your skin like a crumbling statue as the wild beating builds to thunderous proportions, a roar builds in your mind as your mind finally snaps, and you image shatters, exploding outwards as the new image, one of fangs and fur takes its place, and the darkness explodes into crimson red light...
