Fair moon, to thee I sing...

Katisha grimaces. "I'm afraid that's not likely," she says, "as I don't have a character to put you in who is not in the list of principals. I can't very well let you interfere with the plot, can I? Let's see, I can't let you be a chorus member; you might wander off, and that would really come off badly to the audience. But wait - I recall that they mentioned a cat somewhere. You can be the cat."

Before you have time to protest this turn of events, you find yourself on the quarterdeck of the Pinafore, late at night. Your eyes adjust quickly to the darkness - one advantage of your feline condition. You see a man in naval uniform sitting on the steps to the hold, strumming a mandolin and singing. A somewhat rotund woman appears to be hiding behind the mast and listening to him.

"Fair moon, to thee I sing

Bright regent of the heavens.

Say, why is everything

Either at sixes or at sevens?"

The plump woman sighs. Odd, she resembles Katisha somewhat. No matter. In your current form, you probably couldn't communicate with her anyway.
