Writer's Block

As you slip off your coat, you glance at the mantel clock. Not even midnight! You should still have plenty of time to review those proposals. You breathe a sigh of relief and hang up your coat.

Unfortunately, you have trouble focusing on your work. You try all sorts of things to relax, but nothing helps. You put on your slippers and even fix yourself a Bloody Mary in a special dish, but you keep thinking of tall grass, fox-hunting, and your need for female companionship. Why now, all of a sudden? You rest your head against your forepaw and keep asking yourself this.

All of a sudden, an idea comes to you. Should you call Irene?

No. She hardly knows you, and she might object to a call this late. Besides, she might think that you were interested in her for the wrong reasons. You know her to be very family-minded, but not the sort to have a litter with just any co-worker. You need to build things up gradually, show her that you care.

But where does that leave you tonight?

Suddenly, you hear a noise that makes your ears straighten. A crackling noise.
