Well, hey, two protagonists, right?

Remembering the mother's final trick in that story, you resolutely trod off into the woods. No sleep until I find a safer hiding place, you think.

As you waddle along, you soon realize there is a fox walking along beside you. You groan at the thought of entering yet another fairy tale.

"Well, that's a fine greeting for your only friend," the fox says.

"Fred?!" you exclaim, turning to him. "I thought you were gone!"

"Not hardly," says Fred, grinning. "Hey, did you hear what I did to that monkey that got elected king?"

"Not more fairy tales," you whine. "All I want is some food and a place to sleep."

"You're hungry?" Fred says incredulously. Your stomach growls assent. "Well, I know just the place. There's this unguarded farmyard with a couple of lambs just over there - let's fetch us one!"
