Up: Game 2  Up: Game 2 Outline

What, no gold watch?

You hear a shout behind you, but you ignore it. A moment later, the old man floats before you on a flying carpet. "Stop! I have the counterspell," he explains, and you join him on the flying carpet without another word. He commandeers the flying carpet back to the roof of his shop.

Brian overhears the two of you return, and the old man beckons him from his bedroom loft out onto the roof. "Looks like you two have a lot in common," chuckles the old man. "I want you two to shake hands. Er, paws."

Quizzically, you obey, and Brian begins to look pinker and pinker until he is not a cat, but a wide-eyed college-age boy in tatters. You resist a strange urge to claw him.

"Brian, you have been an excellent stockcat," says the old man. "Now you may resume your life where you left off. In the storeroom are new clothes and boots. Wear them in good health, and I hope you will visit often!"

Brian smiles, but still wide-eyed, asks: "Could I have one more mouse before I go?" Neither he nor the old man pays you any attention.
