An Awkward Handshake

Jason directs a pleading glance at Kevin, whose expression does not change.

"Good to see you," you say slowly to Kevin, your hand shakily extended toward him. You halfway expect him to bite it off, even before you notice a rivulet of saliva fall from his jaw. He returns the handshake, however, and you puzzle over the canvas of his large, leathery palm.

"Relax," Kevin advises, "I have enough self-restraint not to eat my kid brother's best friend, even if he does smell like savory veal. But would you like to tell me what's going on before I read it in the newspaper?"
