Miracles do happen

You look in a mirror, and admire how fit and trim you look now ... you hardly recognize yourself! A week ago, you were a tub of lard, and now you're a mountain of muscles.

You and Fred had had some difficulties at first, of course ... you couldn't bend over to pick up the dumbbells, the exercise bikes bent under your weight with your guts hanging over the handlebars, not to even mention the countless times the weights came down on your belly when you tried yo use the weight machines. To say nothing of the jokes! Everyone in the gym made fun of you and Fred because of your size ... but who's laughing now?

Once the two of you finally got into the swing of things, with jogging (inches at a time, jumping-jacks (that showed up on the local seismograph), and a few of the largest weight machines (most were too small), the weight came off with astonishing speed ... in a week's time, you've lost nearly all your flab, the last of which will have disappeared in a couple more hours. Fred has come a long way, too ... he's currently a little thinner than you were when you started, and now wears your gymsuit instead of the muscle shirt (which makes an excellent rug for your living room).

You still have a picture of you both as you were a week ago, and keep it as a reminder of the journey you've taken. Personally, you think of sending a copy of it to one of those weight loss services and becoming rich as a celebrity.

At this moment, Fred is at the gym, working off what he has left. You've made plans to meet up with him later, after a jog around town to lose the last few pounds.
